I'm so sorry to have missed the reunion. We have just returned after 8 weeks of travel. When we heard of the reunion our travel plans had already been made.
We live in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island off the coast of Washington. We're nearer Victoria, British Columbia than mainland Washington. It's abundant in natural beauty, including the people who reside here. We've lived here for four years since my retirement from teaching in 1998. My sister, Marilyn Lackey Krabbe and my brother, John Lackey also live on the island. We moved from Seal Beach, California where we had lived for almost 30 years. I taught in Long Beach Unified School District for 27 years. We have 2 children, Susan and Kevin, and 2 grandsons. Susan lives with her husband and sons on Bainbridge Island, Washington (2 ferry rides away from us!) and Kevin lives with his wife in Westminster, California.
Congratulations to all of you on all your efforts to make the reunion a spectacular success. I'm totally amazed at the web site and find it a source of all sorts of information. Thank you so much for your time and energy. I would love to hear from any of our classmates. Hugs.

I will be off line until Tuesday of next week. We are all very excited about the reunion. Norma and I never thought that we could do all this in just a few months, but with other wonderful classmates joining our efforts and working so hard, we pulled it together with the assistance of computers, telephones, lots of e-mails and a web site. It is my pleasure to have worked with our committee classmates. What a wonderful group!
Norma Caylor (Petterson) has spent countless hours locating, contacting and recording our mates from '56. In addition, we will all meet at Norma's and George's home for the BBQ on Saturday night. There should be between 110-120 people. Also, Norma owns her own business and works full time!
Bob Green brought his skills to the Board and promoted and advertised our reunion. Besides owning and operating his own business, he made the time to create flyers, send out the mail, collect and record the registration fees and track the whole thing on data sheets.
Carol Fricke (Thompson) has been our enthusiastic entertainment and activities person, organizing our one person entertainment and planning the Hospitality Room activities, shopping for goodies and necessaries.
Elaine Foster (Jones) was our reunion site person. We can thank her for a great job in locating a fine hotel and location. She continues to be our contact person for our hotel needs. She is working with Carol on the Hospitality Room and Norma on the BBQ.
Fern King (Ellis) and Eleanor Beckley (Murphy) are our Co-Treasurers. They are amazing, remaining very dear and close friends all these years. They have coordinated the tasks of banking and tracking the funds.
Bill Willis (Billy to some!) jumped on board to assist us in finding and inviting our former teachers. He was successful and two will join us on Saturday night: Coach Bob Mushik and Coach Les Clemmer. Also, Bill made hundreds of calls to classmates, near and far.
(Paul) Pete Cisco is our one man photo committee. He will take many photos and put something together for all of us. Pete has supported the web site and been available for Board requests, suggestions and input. I think he will be very busy at the reunion.
My gratitude, along with yours, goes out to these fine mates.

I so regret not being able to attend this reunion! If it were not that I have recently moved from Calif. to New Hampshire, and even more recently visited family and friends in Calif., I would have probably been able to work it out. Hopefully I will be able to make the next event. It has been so much fun receiving your e-mails, reading and remembering so many of my friends from the past. I wanted to especially see my dear Eleanor Beckley and Jane Glaze! And Jim Baumgartner, Schlomo Bachrach, and so many others! Thank you all for your great efforts to get this going. I will always treasure the memories you have brought back for me! Until we meet again, Linda

On behalf of my husband, Robert (who does not "do computers"), I pass on the message he will not be attending the reunion. ...His one best friend, Ron Frazelle, [will not be there]. So for that reason, distance, and already "traveled out" this year, he won't make it. He would like to remain on your list however for future events. You [all] are to be complimented for the awesome amount of work involved in pulling this together. Thank goodness for email and websites!

Hi everyone! To make sure that I play everyone's favorite tunes from high
school, please post some of the songs you would like to hear on the bulletin
board or e-mail me. I will be playing the songs from 1952-56, so there will be a
big variety of music. Also, mention if you want to hear more R&B, vocals,
instrumentals, etc. A good source for songs is in the 1956 Hits section, page 2.
Check out the different weekly charts of the years 1955-56 and see the songs
that were big that senior year. Remember, I have most of these songs, so don't
worry about not being able to hear the one you want. If there is a song that you
want to be sure I have, feel free to ask me now so I will have it by the time of
the reunion. Your help is greatly appreciated. See you all at the reunion. -
Darin
