I would like to let everyone know that we are grateful to some of our classmates for helping to get this web site up and running.  I would like to mention thatJoseph Auciello was instrumental in promoting the idea of the BPHS 1956 Web Site.  Without his creative thinking, we would still be talking about getting our mates together.  He introduced me to our 1957 classmate, Dave Scroggins, and Dave agreed to build our web pages.  Joseph Auciello, Norma Caylor, Carol Fricke, and Jim Helgesen gathered the funds together to launch our project.  Norma has put countless hours in attempting to reach our scattered friends.  Jesse Parks is our class historian and remembers every detail of our four-year tenure at BPHS.  I just feel so very happy to know you all and to welcome each and every person back to the Class of 1956

Auciello: I never went to the library on Main Street near Romona Blvd.  I always got a girl friend to do it for me.  Or, I knew the answers, which was most of the time.

Thank you for your concern about me, Jesse.  However,  I intend to be at our reunion no matter where it is held, if it is possible.  I do not need assistance. But, I too would be happy to help donate, if someone should need help.  Again, Jesse,  thanks for your generosity.  You are one in a million.  Your the best.

Just talking here ... First of all, I asked the following questions:  1.  Where to rent horses?  2.  Location of Moody's Market -- and Jesse responded with Joseph: " ... to rent horses you had to go to Cogswell and Ramona in El Monte just above the river bed. On the southeast corner
they had a horse named Blackjack that was fast and quick. Moody's market was, I believe, on Main and Olive near where Helen Haudenschield lived and she lived on the northeast corner. anything else Joseph? ....Jesse out.

Jesse KNOWS EVERYTHING!  I CAN'T STUMP HIM -- BUT I WILL TRY ONE MORE
TIME, FOR JESSE, and all -- FINISH THIS W.O. LOOKING IT UP .. Gem of the
Valley, Highest in Worth, Always the Leader, Best on Earth .. (supply the next line or more).
One more, Jesse, where did they keep the National Geographic Magazines in the Library?

Kudos to Sonia, for 2nd place, she also got the answers, but not as specific as Jesse did.  But to follow up Sonia's cue --> If each of us reports our contacts, we can reconstruct the class of '56 from our collective, multi-perspectives!  This demonstrates the power of a database, which contains in itself the very tools to make it more comprehensive!

I clued Mark Ferraro, he is in Lebanon, Oregon in the phone book, and wants to hear from Wade Dorman.  Could someone contact Dave Collins, he lives in Washinton and should be back on line again.  Carrie Bradley said that she would check in, but may need a second contact.   Did someone call Alexina Steinberger in Yucca Valley yet? .. Maybe Cindy has her number.  Maybe it is under Bednar.

Let me share a story about how much things change -- in 1960, my brother refused to give some church kids a ride to the beach because they did not know how to sit -- slumped down and back --  in his car -- not risking driving 'uncool' kids in his 'short' -- today, he runs a foster home, is a mentor jr high school teacher, and works with his church, having earned a Master's in Religious Theology!  When my son was growing up -- and misbehaving -- I said, "Mike, keep it up!  Based on what happened to Richard, the way you are going, you will wind up being at least a Cardinal!"  ...Lots of fun going down memory and paddy lane.

Kudos to Jesse for the memory and to Sonia for absolute professionalism -- Let me brag about her -- She used to run hospitals for the Military!  That explains the professionalism she puts into
everything.  It is more TQM than OCD!  Yea Sonia!  My guess is that we will finally meet the Saturday night before the picnic in May, and co-host an event with the class of '57 and see what could happen the following weekend in Bullhead City, coordinating plans with the beautiful Norma. ....

HOW DO YOU LIVE YOUR DASH”

I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the date on her tombstone: From the beginning….to the end.

He noted that first came her date of birth and spoke the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. (1934 – 1998)

For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth…and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own; The cars… the house…the cash, what matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.

So think this long and hard… are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left, that can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile… remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy’s being read with your life’s actions to rehash…would you be proud of the things they say  “about your dash”

What ever happened to Gary Paisley? I saw him as I was entering UCLA and he was graduating from that fine institution of learning.  What is that girl with the beautiful voice, Norma Harp doing these days?  She was a great help to me in Mr. Clark's algebra class?

Response to:    De Ann Fessler
Hi there!   Upon reading De Ann Fessler's note and about her problem,  I feel that either we have the next reunion near her or fly her to the reunion's location.  This is nothing more than a suggestion.  De Ann, take care of  yourself, there is only one of you.

Dear Classmates:

You have done a great job with this web page.  I would love to attend a class reunion!  Just not this year as I am recovering from brain surgery and just so grateful to be alive and kicking!  I vote the reunion be next year as I personally cannot drive, fly, or lift anything over 5 pounds.  It's the pits!  Also, we are in the middle of a move to another town. I wish you ALL well and good luck in your efforts to have another
class reunion.  Love and best wishes.

Time Out for a Little Fun:

As you all may have noticed, your "new, electronic name" is First Name,
"BPHS", Last Name.  The correct nomenclature for Sonia, then, is "Sonia
BPHS Easley".

Brilliant Move!  In one 'slam-dunk', all of us are related in the same
form as Hillary keeps her family name (Rodham); also it gives those w/o
middle names, a better 'handle' than using the bland "name" (no middle
initial), and finally, it means we are all members of
'arroyo-bound-err-track dividing' sub-section of LA CO named after Mr. Baldwin, rib boned
by great roads - Garvey Blvd, Arrow Highway, River grade Rd, Puente Blvd.
If you stop to listen, you can hear the rush of the "Red Car
Accelerating", and look up to a snow-capped Mt. Baldy, while at that very moment
you are contemplating a run down Hwy 39 to the beach!

In this playful mood, I am not mad anymore about the dramatic-traumatic
inferior education that we got. OK, we missed the boat on Calculus, and
Pre-Technology, on Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving -- We were
prepared to work, not for the professions,  and work we did, to create a
better life for our kids and their kids. Maybe, it is best we started at
the bottom, so we could only get better!  (As you notice, I am not
complaining as usual, about the bottom-feeding academic status of our HS,
which is still at the bottom today (write me if you want the data).
Really, I am writing, having fun, while I am getting out the word, that if
we don't do something, then there will be generations of future Posers
who will have to surmount all the barriers that most of us did, and that
some of us could not overcome!  For sure, I am going to do something
politically, in a nice way, join me if you have the conviction.

Also, because every classmate, except one, that I have meet has matured
with nobility, class, grace, and wisdom, I am proud to redefine myself
as JOSEPH "BPHS" AUCIELLO.  KUDOS all around.

You folks have done a fantastic job on this site. Congrats to you all!!  We'd love to have a reunion sometime next year.  Actually anytime except around Christmas would be fine. I'd vote for Las Vegas and would like to be able to help somehow, however distance is a problem other than maybe helping someway through emails. I'll try and come up with some ideas to assist.
