Happy 50th Anniversary, George and Norma

I continue to do 'business turnaround' and 'large scale technology' consulting part-time. When I'm not working, the wife and I travel. We returned in June from a trip in Northern Ireland visiting my wife's relatives, and vacationing in the Ukraine and Russia. We're off in two weeks traveling the U.S. doing genealogy work and visiting family and friends.

I'm currently trying to get interested parties, the Government and news media, to read a report I've been working on. The report covers:
  1. How to save Social Security and Medicare for those who have contributed, and
  2. How to reduce the Federal Deficit.
After six months of reviewing suggestions from are elected officials, media and various special interest groups, I find very little interest or hear "we don't believe you" comments. Do you know that the Government has transferred $2.9 trillion out of Social Security and Medicare over the life of those programs, and has yet to pay interest on those monies?

Arnie Abegg and wife, Doreen
I've been retired from the Huntington Beach Fire Dept. for 18 yrs. now & enjoying EVERY moment of it. My wife Doreen & I like to travel the states of Cal., Nev., Az., NM. & Hawaii & spend a lot of time @ our cabin overlooking Big Bear Lake with our mini Aussie Brandi. We are very fortunate to have our cabin & a very nice home in Huntington Beach about a 1/2 mile from the beach.  I keep thinking "NOT BAD" for someone that Mr. Teresa (my favorite teacher) wrote in my senior year book (THE MOST UNLIKELY TO SUCCEED). I guess that's enough rambling, got to go & have fun now.

I am sadden with the loss of DeAnn. [DeAnn Fessler Poore]  She was the one classmate that I had a forever crush on, but was always to shy to ask her out. I hope she went peacefully, without pain, and that she is now in the hands of God. I hope her immediate family will take a moment to  celebrate her life as they mourn their loss. Needless to say that these are the type of e-mails that no one wants to receive. Take care and God bless.

My wife and I are looking forward to a trip to Arizona and Nevada during October.   Melvin Cohu

As of right now, Wed, Sept 30, I am sitting in my fifth wheel at Klamath Falls on the first night of our six week long trip ....going wherever we feel like. We will be going to the three class reunion and also to a reunion of some old friends from our former church. We are living in Spokane, WA and we attend a church by the name of Crossover Church in nearby Mead. There is a lady in our church that we have become re-acquainted with by the name of Nancy Smith Larson. She graduated from BPHS with the class of 1958. She is a friend of Hazel Stevenson Deshawn. Recently Hazel came for a visit with Nancy and with a little encouragement from my wife Judy we had a group of BPHS grads over for hamburgers. We ended up with quite a crowd of people who all live up here. Dennis McLaughlin, Jim Williams and his lovely wife, Jim Fox, Hazel, Nancy and her husband, Jerry were all there. What a blast from the past! It was so good to see all of these people and all of us live up here in Spokane or nearby. Moe Gingrich

A friend finally took a picture of the little ceramic book all of the graduates of the class of '56 received with their name on it.  I can't remember if it was a lunch or a breakfast where I received it.  Tom Murphy

Norma, Pat still has hers. She even knows who made 'em. It was Alexina Steinberger's Mom & Dad. They had a factory in their backyard and made various ceramic things. Pat still has some little bells and things Alexina gave her for her birthdays, etc. The books were given to us at graduation time. We think it was at the senior breakfast to show us where we sat.  Hope this helps!!  Steve Crittenden

I too was a close friend with Alexina and her parents.  My mother-in-law to be worked at the studio.  I remember these trinkets.  Wish I still had mine.  Yes, it was the senior breakfast.  Sonia Easley

I still have my two ceramic bells I got from Alexina in elementary school.  One was for Christmas and the other was for Valentines Day.  We were friends back then. I was at her home once and rode on her donkey (or maybe it was a burro!) visited the ceramic studio and had lunch with her.  It sure was a lot of fun, as I still remember it quite vividly.  Ruth Elko Panzirer

Thanks for going to all that trouble to send me the pics of the BPHS reunion! I was happy to get a picture of Judy & Moe too. I wrote her a letter tonight and sent her the attached picture which will give you an idea of what I look like now along with my wife Maria who is from Belgium. We got married in Feb. 1965 and moved to Connecticut a month later where we lived until 1999 when we both retired. I was with USPS....started out in W. Covina and was moved to Covina when they became separate post offices. Transferred to Westport, Conn. Home of many celebrities. My wife was in Banking and Paul Newman was a board member of her little bank at the time. Moved to Delaware in 1999 because it was cheaper all around. We love living in a state with no sales tax. There are also a lot of tax breaks for seniors. We have two boys, one in Boston who has three children (2 girls 1 boy) and a son in the Boise, Idaho area who has four boys. My daughter-in-law in Boston gave birth to the baby boy last week so I took my wife up there to help out for a week and will go back next weekend. Although I'm retired I work as a Postmaster Relief in a little one person P.O. in St. Georges, DE which keeps me pretty busy at times. I'll say goodnight as I am working tomorrow. It's after 11 PM here.
