Baumgartner, James William (69) of Mission Viejo, Ca. was called back to God on Feb. 26, 2008 in Laguna Nigel. Known to his loved ones as Jimmy, JB, Pops, Papa Jim and sometimes Pee Wee, died of complications due to stroke. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 14, 1939 to Arthur and Rosemarie. He lived most of his life in the San Gabriel Valley and graduated from Baldwin Park High in 1956 as class president. In 1961 he coached the Rancho All-Stars baseball team to victory in the Colt World Series in Abilene, Texas. A true baseball fan through and through especially the Anaheim Angels. A huge car lover and an original member of the Nefers car club in the late 50’s. He enjoyed fishing and hook’n up the RV. “See you in heaven Pops” there will be a memorial service held on Wednesday March the 5th at 4:00 p.m. at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, Ca. 92653. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in his name to the Angels Baseball Foundation. Jesse is doing well. Thank you all for giving your support
MY FAVORITE TEACHER AT BPHS WAS MISS LINDSDALE. PHYLLIS AND I BOTH HAD HER FOR GENERAL BUSINESS AND ALGEBRA. IN TALKING ABOUT EQUATIONS, SHE SAID: " YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW." AND SHE TOLD A SAD STORY THAT HER HUSBAND TO BE WAS KILLED IN THE WAR. AFTER A PAUSE SHE SAID: " THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS I NEVER MET HIM." THIS MADE HER A REAL PERSON IN MY EYES.
Have you ever noticed that the things that caused you some hardship at the time are frequently the things that you remember with a great deal of fondness now. A good example is to think back to your favorite teacher when you were going to school. It doesn't matter whether it was in grade school, Jr. High, High School or College. Your favorite teacher, or Boss for that matter, is always the one that pushed you the hardest.
I remember Mr. John Greeley. He taught English and Speech at BPHS. I was assigned to his English class for the year and at the end, he suggested I take his speech class. Although I was very shy and unsure of my abilities, I decided to take the course as a college prep credit.
Mr. Greeley was so encouraging. He made me feel I could do anything -even speak in front of a group. I went on to win third place at the University of Redlands Speech Tournament and second place at the UCLA Speech Tournament.
We spent the night with a classmate’s grand-mother in Redlands and slept in our sleeping bags on the floor. We really had such a good time.
Because of Mr. Greeley’s supportive encouragement, I went on to lecture in college nursing programs. This teacher had a wonderful influence on my entire life. I only wish I could have told him how fondly I remembered him and how much I appreciated his lasting gift to me.
I remember Tom Clark, math teacher, was always fun to be around, and very demanding that things be done correctly! He influenced me to be the best teacher I possibly could be. I think that my 47 years in teaching is partially a result of his example. I am still teaching 7th, 8th & High School science.
The one thing that really stands out and I have never forgotten was a saying that Mr. Pike constantly mentioned-"Get what you can and can what you get". I was very hard headed when I was young-stubborn, always getting into some trouble along the way. When I was drafted into the Army, I started thinking about Mr. Pike's saying and applying it and it has continued to help me all my life-Army, going to school after the Army, having my little "one horse business" (accounting and tax planning) for approximately 37 years (and I am still working and applying it!). I have even mentioned it to my son and daughter and I'm sure it helps.
I remember a teacher that taught driving education, but can't remember his name, who saved my life and that of my 9 month old daughter. We were driving home from shopping on an election Tuesday in November 1956 and as I started to cross an intersection I was broadsided by a pick up truck with a truck engine in the bed. My car immediately went into a spin and I remember the teacher had drilled into us to "go with the spin" and that was what I did, for 3 revolutions. The police and firemen who responded to the incident said it probably saved our lives because at the speed the truck was going and the weight behind him (by the way, he ran the stop light to hit me and asked why I hit him. His front end was quite damaged and so was my passenger door of my beloved 1955 powder blue over navy blue Chevy.) we would have probably flipped and rolled if I had fought the spin.
Does anyone know the name of this teacher? [Yes, Bill Willis remembers. It was Coach Clemmer]

Dee Dee Tuttle (Blake) Here: Just a note I missed telling the mates that Neil and I celebrated our 50th anniversary on June 22nd, 2007 plus the 3 years "going steady" at BPHS. How time has gone by. Thanks,
Dee Dee Tuttle (Blake) beyonddede@yahoo.com

Bob Green Here: Visited China in May on vacation. Believe them when they tell you there are 1.3 billion people living there. People everywhere and you don't want to live there. If you live in the city, and don't have a lot of money, your apartment is less then 1000 sq feet for a family of four. The first class hotels are very nice but the service is like staying at a Holiday Inn. The food isn't bad. I could never get them to serve the rice first, they serve it last. I like putting everything on top of my rice.
This Xmas and New Years, we're going on the Queen Mary 2 out of New York for two weeks. We plan to spend sometime in New York City before hitting the high seas.

This message comes to ask you to join together in prayer for my son Stuart during his military deployment to Kuwait for the next six months. As with his Iraq deployment in 2004 for 12 months, he’ll be flying aircraft in and out of volatile areas. Please pray for Stuart’s safe return to his beautiful family and the country he holds so dearly.
Stuart lives his life for God, our country and his family. He is the Lord’s steward, the epitome of our country’s finest, and a warm, loving and hands-on father to Baelyn, 6, Kaeley, 5, and Spencer, 3. Please join me in prayer for Stuart, his wife, Monica, his three children and all the dedicated men and women serving our country.
Stuart’s needs are simple – prayers and communication from home. Notes of support and encouragement will be most welcomed, and certainly appreciated by me, aka “The Mom”!

Two of our classmates, Pat and Steve Crittenden lost their brother/brother-in-law to illness. Our prayers are with you both and your brother's family.
By accident, there were a few people left off the Reunion Committee List in our new Reunion Book. We would like to express our apologies now. We want to give these workers proper and deserved credit. If it had not been for the great group effort of all these committee members, we would not have enjoyed such a great Fiftieth Reunion. We acknowledge their tireless work and again regret the oversights. Respectfully, Norma and Board Members
