CHRISTMAS AT CHRISTOPHER CREEK 2006
What a wonderful time we all had during our Christmas vacation. We didn't get snow on Christmas, but on Thursday we had about a 10 inch fall. Those attending this 2006 were: Vince Notz, Paulette, Sara, Nichola, Thierry, Greg, Tori, Mary, Devin and Sandy, Dustin, Julie, Brenden and Sonia. Please, share with those without computer.
Comments by attendees...
Vince:
"Loved the games, food and desserts. My favorite activity was
walking to the Lodge (Bar) and the snow fights were great! I
recommend bringing less clothes and fixing less elaborate meals. |
Paaulette:
It was great to get away to a neutral place that was different than the
usual Christmas at someone's house. The cabins were fun and the snow
was a treat. I liked everyone participating in the activities, but
the spontaneous ones were fun! The snow ball fight and snowman
making were my favorites. Next time, everyone should be able to come
(plan ahead). Maybe not as long, like 5 nights. |
Sara:
Well, it was very different for me to spend Christmas week in AZ at a
cabin. This was the first Christmas away from home, from the normal
things I am used to. But, overall it was fun and good to do
something different. It was nice to spend the whole week with the
family! The only thing that bothered me was not having everyone
there. My favorite part of the week was Thursday when we went to the
bar, playing the spelling game, and the snow ball fight on the way home!
I liked that everyone got along and laughed a lot! Playing board
games was fun too! Maybe we could shorten the time a little, like
say 5 days, and not try to cram so much stuff in and more exercise!
Thanks Greg for the hikes! |
Nichola:Had
a great week with the family. enjoyed snow days, the fresh air and
all of the activities that we did. Best Christmas tree in a long
time. Liked drinking, snow ball fights, and the game Spitz.
Suggest Charity Gift activity. |
Greg:
Lots of fun! Loved the weather and the snow. Had a great time
with the family at the bar. The early morning hikes in the
wilderness were very enjoyable, would like to have more outdoor exercise
activities, but not make it mandatory for all, more, exercising as well to
include morning stretching. Loved the games at night. Should
have a good long game between dinner and dessert. The way we had the
free-for-all breakfast was the best in my opinion. We should refrain
from prepared breakfast and lunch. My idea for the diners will be to
have a vote for the healthiest meal as well as best tasting. |
Tori:
Our Christopher Creek Christmas was great. The family was in high
spirits and it seems that we all had a great time. Favorite
activities of mine were gingerbread and ornament making. For the
next year in Catalina, I would like to see furniture and a laundry
facility, fully equipped kitchen and of course another bar within walking
distance. It may be best to keep planned activities optional as
there will be so many things to do. Overall I would count our
Christmas 2006 as a success. Thanks to everyone especially our 2006
coordinator, Sonia! |

Dustin:
Everything was good and the company was amazing! It was to bad the 3
couldn't stay longer. Maybe next time, we'll be there the whole
week. I enjoyed the star gazing and ornament making. |
Julie:
This Christmas was a wonderful season to remember. We were all
together enjoying the love and joy of the family reunion. Dinners
were cool, desserts were the best. Enjoyed ornament making and
stretching exercise. I liked the star gazing. |
Sonia:
I enjoyed being in a neutral location with family -spreading activities
and duties out over the week not putting pressure on one persons. My
favorite activities were snow person making, snow ball fight, ornament and
ginger bread person making. I especially enjoyed watching Brenden
open his presents and watching the cute Thierry. My suggestions for
the next year would be a set amount for dinners, $40-50 (?) and buying
food and products at our location. Also, maybe only indoor
activities each and lots of fun games. In addition to hikes,
Catalina will present us with so much to do. Perhaps we can not
repeat the same activities. I think 5-6 days would be great,
considering two days for travel is expected. I think the snacks were
too much and we can eat left-overs instead. I really want to thank
all for their wonderful participations. I think we learned a lot. |
Brenden: I liked Thierry! Thanks for making my Christmas so
special. |
Devin and Sandra |
Paulette took careful time in calculating the Partner Dinners and Desserts. Vince counter checked her calculations. It was soooo close that the winners were only a fraction of a point in difference:
DINNERS: Sara and Nichola. The menu was meat and vegetarian chili with a green bean casserole.
DESSERTS: Sonia and Nichola. The simple Rice Krispies with chocolate chips squares were devoured with great pleasure.
We all said all the meals and desserts were absolutely magnificent. Good job, gang!
